Trump Issues Threat to Iran’s Energy Infrastructure

President Donald Trump started the work week by issuing a threat to Iran’s energy infrastructure.

The threat, which was issued Monday on Truth Social, came after what Trump said was “great progress” in talks with officials in Tehran, per The Hill.

“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” Trump posted.

“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ’touched,’” the president continued.

Last week, Trump extended a pause on U.S. strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure.

speculation about a possible ground attack on Iranian soil due more U.S. troops being sent to the Middle East.

There has also been more attention on the oil depot on Kharg Island.

On Sunday, Trump indicated his priority in Iran was seizing the country’s oil industry.

“To be honest with you, my favorite thing is to take the oil in Iran but some stupid people back in the US say: ‘why are you doing that?’ But they’re stupid people,” Trump told The Financial Times. 

The U.S.-Israeli conflict against Iran has now gone on for more than a month.

The war is not well received by Americans in recent polling. 

A Fox News poll reported, 58% of registered voters were against the conflict.
