Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is calling on people to “fight back” following President Donald Trump’s repeated remarks regarding mail-in voting.

“Trump put Postmaster DeJoy in charge of the postal service to dismantle the USPS sabotage vote by mail,” Waters tweeted on Monday. “New procedures are causing massive delays.”

The Democratic lawmaker — who is a frequent critic of the president — then claimed Trump and Republicans “don’t believe in free fair elections.”

She continued, “They’ll lie, cheat, steal to stay in power. We’ve got to fight back!”

Trump recently suggested the idea of delaying the 2020 Presidential Election, as he claimed “universal mail-in voting” will lead to “the most INACCURATE FRAUDULENT Election in history,” as IJR reported.

“Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” Trump tweeted on July 30.

Despite the claims about mail-in voting, there is no evidence of widespread fraud. Additionally, several lawmakers have made it clear the president does not have the power to delay the election.

The president then said during a press conference afterward that he does not want to see a date change during the election.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows on Sunday was asked if Trump was serious about a possible change to the election, where he told CBS News, “All of this that we’re talking about comes down to one thing. Universal mail-in ballots. That is not a good idea for the country.”

Meadows also added, “He has not looked at delaying any election.”
